@chuck - not 'from', but for every appiation that free jobs site sends, Recruit Ireland sends at least a thousand. Simply because they have far more job hunters - visitors.

Not to mention the returning visitors! Since if you apply for a job on Free Jobs - and get from the recruiter advertising that the job is 3 years old (usually called 'a fake' in this industry) - a job huntere will stay away from such a site.

Makes sense? :)

Not sure I follow the bit about RI generating 1000 applications from freejobs.ie?

@ Chuck – Well,... no...

Recruit Ireland is everything but free. They simply announced a period – during the peak of the recession of a free advertising for the employers. IN that period they have been filling up their contacts. With people in Ireland that are hiring. Next week they will start charging those people. €99 per job posting. They have 1500 of them in their database right now.

There is also a fact that Recruit Ireland is investing, and has during the last decade or more invested astronomical figures in advertising. This results in the huge number of registered job hunters and the general awareness of them. Recruit Ireland is a ‘household brand’ name (in Ireland only!).

Recruit Ireland generates a thousand applications per job for every application from FreeJobs.ie site. That is the main difference.

So Ivan, are you also suggesting that employers and agencies alike should also move away from RecruitIreland given that they offer free job postings (and yes I'm aware that agencies still have to pay on RI - and the fact that they've had to pay over the last 6 months + will possibly force them away anyway)?!
